How can I get involved?

Every student at Wrexham Glyndŵr is automatically a member of the Students' Union. This entitles you to the right to vote (or even stand!) in Students' Union elections and grants you access to all the services offered by the Students' Union. As a member of the WGSU, you are also a member of the National Union of Students (NUS). You have the right to opt-out of being a member of the Students’ Union should you wish (see our Bye-Laws or contact us about how to do this), but why would you want to?!

As part of the Union you can join and set up societies, play in the BUCs league with TeamGlyndwr, and generally have your voice heard and shape your university experience.

It isn’t unusual for students to feel like they aren’t heard or can’t make a difference when it comes to student issues. That’s why at the Union we are passionate about providing a platform for you to do just that. We will run individual campaigns on current and relevant issues as well as annual campaign weeks which focus on different areas of student welfare. Our annual weeks are:- Sexual Health and Guidance, Raising and Giving and Anti- Bullying. If you have any ideas for individual campaigns, please do let us know! It can be anything you are interested in or feel strongly about. From tuition fees and bursaries to politics and student housing - you don’t need to feel like an insignificant onlooker anymore. With our links to NUS and their backing, we really can make a change. Please don't feel like every campaign must be on a big scale either! Even if you want to get involved in a local, or even just a campaign within Glyndŵr University, do let us know. We are always interested in your views.

If you have an idea for a campaign, why not contact us!

You may also wish to purchase an NUS Extra card. These are £12 and will give you all sorts of savings and discounts in a wide number of shops. From money off pizza to discounts on films, an NUS Extra card more than pays for itself in no time! You can find out more, and buy an NUS Extra card here!
