Freshers' is arguably the most exciting time of your university experience. It's your chance to explore your new surroundings and all the services that are available to you during your time here. With Welcome Week officially kicking off in just 6 days time, here are 7 reasons to be excited about it!

 

 

 

1. Making friends

Meeting new people is one of the best things about Freshers'. You're very likely to meet people who could be your friends for life, and as most people will be looking to build their university social circles, why not build yours? 

 

2. Starting a routine again (finally!)

The refreshment of normality has become a common craving for most of us now. The last 5 months has gone so fast yet it still somehow feels like the world as we once knew it is deep in the past. Getting back into a routine will surely give us the boost we need to feel normal again and much less monotonous. 

 

3. Trying something new

Whilst university is something new for many students beginning their Glyndwr journey this month, there's so much on offer at this year's Freshers'. We've got a range of events lined up which you can book onto here, along with freebies and competitions throughout the week. All of the events are completely free of charge, so there's never been less to lose in trying something you've not done before!

 

4. Freebies and prizes up for grabs!

Throughout Welcome Week, we'll be offering lots of freebies with our Freshers' packs and free events. We'll also be hosting a variety of competitions, with winners announced daily on our social media channels! 

 

5. Check out The Lazy Lion bar

The Lazy Lion Bar & Pizzeria is your very own student space on campus. It's located in the SU building and lots of new exciting things will be happening with the introduction of the new academic year. You'll be able to grab a drink, enjoy a pizza and chill out. There's also a pool table, a dart board and computers! Stay up-to-date with what's on, including various offers and promotions by liking The Lazy Lion's Facebook page.

 

6. Signing up to societies

Welcome Week is the perfect time for you to become acquainted with our range of societies and sports team on offer. It offers the perfect opportunity for recreational activity outside of your study time, where you can make friends and do something you enjoy with like-minded people! Students of all abilities are welcome to sign up to our societies, so don't be shy, give it a go! 

 

7. Meeting our team

Last but not least, Welcome Week will be your chance to get acquainted with our friendly team here at the Students' Union. You'll learn about what each member of staff's role is, and how we'll be able to help you if you ever need anything from joining/setting up a new society, advice or even just signposting you to relevant University services. 

 

We're really looking forward to Welcome Week this year, and although we know it won't quite be the same as before, we can't wait to say hello to both new and returning students!
