While I’m unsure when it stops being socially acceptable to wish everyone a Happy New Year, I’ll take the opportunity now to do just that while we’re still more-or-less in mid-January!

If last semester is anything to go by, then this semester is going to absolutely fly by, so we want to make sure that there are plenty of memories to be made in the meantime. We’re working to ensure that there’s much to look forward to, and we’re excited to continue enriching your student experience with our events, campaigns and support services.

Some key events we have on over the next month are:

  • Monday 30th January – Friday 3rd February: ToastTea & Chill, free tea and toast in Glyn’s from 8:30am – 11:30am
  • Thursday 2nd February: Quiz, subject tbc
  • Thursday 9th February: International Pizza Day
  • Thursday 16th February: Refreshers’ & Big Fat 2022 Quiz hosted by myself and your VP, Amy

We’re also hosting a Wellbeing Week in March in conjunction with the University, and I’ll be attending the NUS UK and NUS Wales conferences with your Vice President, Amy.

Help Yourshelf

If you could do with some extra bits for your cupboards, then don’t forget to visit our Help Yourshelf station in the SU corridor. It’s filled with things like canned food, toiletries and other things to fill your pantry.

Advice Centre

Our Advice Centre is open to help you with any academic issues you might be having. If you’d like to book a face-to-face or Teams appointment, then please email union@glyndwr.ac.uk.

Other News…

Some sad news to share, that you may already be aware of, is that the University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor, Claire Taylor, is leaving after 6 years of service for Wrexham Glyndwr University. WGSU would like to congratulate Claire on her new role as Vice Chancellor of Plymouth Marjon University. Claire will be leaving her current role in April this year with an immediate transition into her new venture.

Here’s to a great second semester, and I wish you the best success in your studies while hoping you can enjoy yourself along the way.

P.S. It’s officially Elections period, so don’t forget to nominate yourself or a friend to run for a full-time or part-time position for the next academic year!
