The Membership Services team at WSU is part of a newly-created University Committee: “Student Experience and Opportunities”!
Your Democracy and Campaigns Coordinator, Student Advisors, Membership Projects Coordinator, and Student Opportunities Coordinator all report to this committee on key actions and developments in our areas.
The first meeting of this new committee is taking place in September 2025 and I wanted to share an excerpt from the Student Opportunities section of the SU’s report as a blog post. I chose this excerpt because it highlights some exciting work being done alongside the University’s International Office and showcases transparency - something we at WSU value! Enjoy 😊
“Ten int’l students joined Zack (IO), Hafsa (SUVP) and me [Ariana] on a visit to the Eisteddfod on 7th of August to learn more about Welsh culture and heritage, and take some time out of their studies to have fun! Also joining us on the trip were Ashish: WU alumnus and Social Media and Digital Marketing Support Assistant (IO); Kelly Jones: MA Education student and Course Rep; and David: WSU’s student Trustee. Student Nidhi Mistry did a social media takeover of @wrexham.uni.inter with Ashish’s support. I would encourage everyone to view the posts and reel! The content not only conveys the excitement of the day and the variety of the Wrexham-hosted Eisteddfod but also showcases great talent and knowledge of the students who created it.
The trip was a great success with the attending students and staff having disclosed their enjoyment and gratitude, as well as how much they learned at the event. I hope to put on more events and trips over the academic year to showcase what Societies can do and hopefully encourage more students than ever before to get involved/start something new.”
