There was plenty to get involved in during Wellbeing Week!

We kicked off the week-long campaign with Therapy Day in Glyn’s Bar & Lounge, where over 50 students came along to enjoy the Art Therapy Session hosted by Lydia O’Hara. There were free massages from Emma Simms and a lovely visit from Magnus the Basset Hound and his human, Vic! If that wasn’t your thing, our Vice President, Maisie arranged for 2020 Dreams to visit from London to deliver a Confidence Workshop.

We had 13 attendees for the workshop, with some of the feedback being that it grew their confidence when speaking to strangers in groups, their sense of self-worth and their ability to have fun regardless of other people's opinions!

Were you lucky enough to find one of our Random Acts of Kindness?

We hid chocolates, treats, theatre tickets, a free gym membership and much more around all our campuses. There were also 8 copies of Julia Bradbury’s Walk Yourself Happy books hidden in the Library.

Tuesday saw staff out on the road again!

Katie and Carrie visited Regent Street, whilst Lauren and Ariana visited Northop to talk all things wellbeing and to highlight what services there are from the University and the Students’ Union. Things don’t always go to plan and that’s ok! Remember we are here for you and you can access the wonderful University services such as counselling, wellbeing and funding advice here.

...and of course, Help Yourshelf!

Satellite campus students were given Revision Re-Fuel bags with plenty of snacks, stationery and tips to help you get through the long days and nights preparing for assignments.

A soggy Wednesday didn’t dampen the return of Glyn’s Games!

This time around we had zorb football, nerf wars, FourPlay and we finished the day with a very close netball match and awards ceremony in Glyn’s. Participants were also treated to a free lunch supplied by Aramark and free t-shirts. Congratulations to our winners on the day and a big well done to everyone who took part.

Thursday was our busiest day of the week and we teamed up with Woolly Therapy Farm for the Wellbeing Fair 🐔

We had a VIP visit from Chilli, Nacho and Popcorn the Therapy Chickens and students had the opportunity to cuddle and hold them. Both chucks and students loved the experience and we can’t wait to invite Woolly Therapy Farm back on campus. You can find out more about Woolly Farm here.

University departments and local charities such as Trusell Trust and the British Heart Foundation also held stalls on the day to showcase how they can support students during their time here at Wrexham. Over 200 students joined us on the day, it was a great afternoon and we hope you found the stall holders and information helpful.

That wasn’t all!

Glyngo Bingo was also back on Thursday night. There was a range of prizes from LOTS of toilet roll to a 32 inch TV. Congratulations to all our winners, we hope you enjoyed the night! There were a few birthday celebrations the night, too, and we hope that those involved enjoyed their participation in the fun!

How do you like your eggs? 🍳

We like ours with a croissant and an ice cold orange juice to wash it down! We refilled the Pantry in Wrexham Student Village with plenty of breakfast essentials for those of you in need of a pick-me-up to start your day. Our award-winning Help Yourshelf campaign continued to feature during the Wellbeing Fair, with 50 free wellbeing boxes given out for students to enjoy.

Your wellbeing is important 365 days a year, and support is there for you if you need it. If you’re not quite sure where to turn you can book an appointment in the Students’ Union's independent Advice Centre by contacting suadvice@wrexham.ac.uk.
