Plastic in our oceans has been a global concern for quite some time now and it is about time that the union addressed this issue. The Students' Union should not be supporting the production of plastic by providing cups in the lounge and plastic bags to those who purchase from the shop.

There is no need to have plastic cups in the lounge as people can use their own bottles/thermals and if they do not have a one it will encourage people purchase one and re use it instead of taking a plastic cup each time they want a drink.

There is no need for the SU to provide plastic bags in the shop. It is not sustainable nor 'green'. Once a bag has been given, there is a high chance it will end up in a bin and later the ocean.

"The production of plastic has increased twentyfold since 1964, reaching 311m tonnes in 2014. It is expected to double again in the next 20 years and almost quadruple by 2050. Researchers believe that there will be more plastic in the sea than fish by 2050." - BBC NEWS.

Let's get the SU to stop contributing to the pollution of our oceans!

I´m 100% behind this. Less plastic the better.

Please remove it, and allow the stuff to fill our own cups. Its really annoying to see this pollution every day.
