Let’s unwrap 4 ways to live well in Wrexham at little to no cost. Living well means making better choices with your lifestyle, from looking after yourself to looking after the planet!

1. Take a reusable bag wherever you go

How many times have you been on a quick trip to the supermarket only to find at checkout you’ll need to purchase a bag to hold your items? We’ve all been there. But if you take that conscious step before going anywhere to keep a reusable bag handy, you’ll be sorted even on the most spontaneous shop. Bonus: It helps the environment massively, too. Since October last year, single-plastic products such as straws, cutlery and drink stirrers have been banned in Wales in a bid to reduct plastic pollution.

2. Walk the walk

Walk down the streets of Wrexham and you’ll quickly realise how much there is to offer. From the bustling food markets to the buzz of Wrexham AFC supporters and Welcome to Wrexham hype. Drive around and you’ll barely scratch the surface! Take a step (no pun intended..) in walking more and you’ll do wonders for your health and wellbeing as well as reduce your carbon footprint There are lots of gems in Wrexham, too. Check out the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Alyn Waters Country Park - all free to visit and explore.

3. Have a free porridge on Asda

For a limited time, grab a free breakfast at Asda Café. In partnership with Quaker, they are running an initiative ’Share the Warmth’ which aims to tackle the cost-of-living crisis and provide heart-warming sustenance in this cold climate we’re experiencing. Available to everyone from 8am-12pm, all you need to do to claim your free breakfast is to ask for a bowl of porridge and hot drink (tea, coffee or hot chocolate) at the counter. This offer is scheduled to end on 20th March 2024.

4. Donate to a local charity

Whether you’re having a tidy up or moving out of your accommodation, consider donating your unwanted items to charity. By giving these items a new lease of life, you are reducing landfill and likely going to support someone in need. Local charities you can donate to include WRex Recycling, Barnardo's and the British Heart Foundation. The Students’ Union in Wrexham also lead on the Help Yourself Campaign, Charity Tuesdays and the Clothing Exchange to support students, which you can learn more about here.

So there we are! Four ways to live well in Wrexham. We hope you find these valuable and share these with your friends and family. Sharing is caring after all!
