Student role: Faculty Rep

What is the role?

 

You will be a member of Faculty Board of Studies and represent the students within your faculty making sure their voice is heard, ensuring issues are raised for information/action and any outcomes as a result fed back to the students.

 

What is expected within the role?

 

  • Proactively seek out your peers’ thoughts and opinions in person and remotely, utilising a variety of communication methods to gather feedback on all aspects of their programme. This feedback will be noted and fed back to the Faculty Board of Studies. Additionally, you will be required to liaise with course representatives and faculty staff.
  • You will update your relative course representatives and peers on the outcomes of the meeting following Faculty Board of Studies meetings.
  • Attend the Faculty Board of Studies committee meetings (four meetings per year, approximately two hours each).
  • Contribute to discussions and make constructive comments on behalf of the student body.
  • Communicate with students and other representatives on an ongoing basis about your work with your faculty, and any positive changes made as a result.
  • Promote the value of students and staff working in partnership to enhance the student experience and quality of the education provision.

 

There are 4 Faculty Board of Studies meetings per year.

What training will be provided within this role?

 

The faculty rep will receive course reps training provided by the SU along with an introduction to FBoS training provided by the Quality team.
