Scott Farmer, a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience in the students' union sector and the travel industry, has recently concluded his tenure as the Change Director at Chester Students' Union, where he spearheaded transformative culture change to enhance student engagement and support. With a proven track record of leading change and delivering exceptional results, Scott brings a wealth of expertise in leadership, strategic planning, and problem-solving to his roles.
Scott was Interim CEO for 7 months in 2022 and joined our board to serve as an External Trustee in Spring 2023, where he fulfilled his duties as a Charitable Trustee and Company Director. His dedication to improving the student experience is evident in his diverse portfolio of roles, including his Associate roles at Coole Insight Ltd and Counterculture LLP as well as his position as the Founder and Director of The Association of SU Professionals, where he champions the development of high-quality professionals within the students' union movement.
Scott's passion for his role as a trustee at Wrexham Students' Union remains unwavering. He believes that collaboration and strategic planning are essential in creating meaningful impact within the students' union sector. As he puts it, "I am driven by a genuine desire to improve students' lives, break down bureaucracy, and empower individuals to deliver exceptional results."

Jon has over two decades of experience in hospitality management and students' union operations which he brings to his role as a trustee. Having studied Hospitality Management at the University of Central Lancashire, Jon's journey into the realm of students' unions began as he served as student bar staff before progressing into managerial roles within multiple commercial outlets.
In his current capacity as Director of Engagement and Social Enterprise at UCLan Students' Union, Jon leads multiple teams in enhancing the Union's commercial offerings and delivering student engagement activities that include sports, societies, and volunteering.
'I'm committed to fostering vibrant student experiences and to maximising the impact of the Students' Union's activities. Having connections to previous trustees and senior leaders at Wrexham Students' Union, I was excited to apply for a trustee position when the opportunity came up. I'm looking forward to bringing my knowledge and experience to the Board and to support the work of what is already a fantastic Students' Union with a committed and capable team of staff and volunteers.'
Jazz is a self proclaimed "SU nerd" who is a passionate advocate for student voice, wellbeing, and inclusion, with experience in leadership roles within member-led organisations. Serving as a sabbatical officer at Norwich Arts SU (NUASU) for two years, Jazz spearheaded the development of the Students’ Union, leading initiatives such as a diagnostic review, setting up a shadow advisory board, and successfully advocating for a 412% increase in the block grant. Their stakeholder management and communication, coupled with a keen understanding of the sector, student affairs and union operations, has enabled Jazz to excel in organizing events, managing projects, and implementing successful campaigns.
'I am driven by a passion for empowerment and organisational development, and hope that my experience as a sabbatical officer, and in my current role as Representation and Policy Officer at the Open University Students Association, allows me to contribute to the WGSU trustee board, support the sabbatical officers and staff and sustain what is already a wonderfully vibrant and unique Students' Union. I am looking forward to seeing Wrexham excel!'
Lewys is a Chartered Accountant (ACCA) with a MSc in Accounting and Finance from Swansea University. With experience as a Financial Controller for a FTSE 250 listed company and one of the UK's leading door manufacturers and distributors, Lewys brings a wealth of financial expertise to the board. A former President of Swansea University Students’ Union and a qualified teacher (PGCE), Lewys is also aware of the student landscape and key pedagogical concepts and best practices.
As a Six Sigma black belt, Lewys is also well equipped to advise on any operational and change management issues.
Lewys is a fluent first language Welsh speaker and also holds a HSK Level 3 qualification in Mandarin Chinese.
