Hello July!

Summer fun facebook cover

We’re officially halfway into 2020! We’ve made it through six full months of the year already, and while some of us might still feel stuck in the March mindset, it’s important to draw positives from how far we've come this year.

Here at WGSU, we’re getting ready for the new academic year, and our new officers are ready to make your voices heard.

The end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one...

Yesterday we said farewell to our fantastic former SU President, Kieran, and welcomed our newly elected sabbatical officers into their roles.

Ebony Banks returns for the new academic year as President of the Students’ Union, having formerly served as Vice President to Kieran. She will be picking up from where she left off, in implementing even more student-centered policies and continuing to improve your university experience.

Chloe Williams starts her role as the new Vice President, and we can’t wait to see what she’ll bring to your SU.

We're working in the background to update our website, and continue to provide the monthly e-newsletter direct to your student email address with info on our services, events and campaigns. Try to keep checking your student emails over the summer for any additional past or future University updates. While it may not seem like there's much need to at this time of year, there's still some useful information that could keep you in the loop and gear you up for returning to campus.

One of the things we’ve been focusing on this summer is how to improve our services and new ways to make your voices heard. The ‘Be Heard’ feature will be introduced to our website and will offer a more effective way for students to communicate with us. You'll be able to find a range of resources enabling you to be heard, either through submitting a motion, sending us feedback via surveys, or by contacting our representatives directly.

There’s still time to complete our latest survey, too. Reviewing your SU before the 31st of July will put you in with a chance of winning one of two £50 Amazon vouchers, so it really could be worth your while. WGSU is here to echo your student voice, and helping us to help you will contribute towards shaping the future of your Students' Union.

We're working hard behind the scenes to welcome new and returning students back to campus on the 28th of September in the best way possible. Lots of planning is underway, and we'll be able to reveal all to you over the coming weeks.

Happy July, everyone!
