Course Reps

What are Course Reps?

Course reps are current student volunteers who gather feedback from students on their course and work with the Programme team to improve the student experience. It is as simple as that!

We rely on course reps to be active campaigning members of the Students’ Union who work towards the goal of improving the student experience. They are our ears to the ground, working to resolve local departmental issues such as feedback standards or the facilities available to the students and much more. Additionally, informing the department about what works well, what the students on their course have enjoyed and what should be built upon in the future is just as useful.

How do I become a Course Rep?

Any student can stand to be the Course Rep for their course, and there will be at least two per level for all courses. In order to become a course rep you will need to be elected students studying on your course. Your Programme Leader will run an election (this can be done in many ways, for example a show of hands or via email). You will need to inform your programme leader if you wish to become a course rep. After the election, your programme leader will email Katie.taffinder@glyndwr.ac.uk with your details and then you will be contacted to undertake Course Rep Training!

See the events calendar for Course Rep Elections and training dates.

How do I gather feedback as a Course Rep?

Course reps will encourage students to use the online platform tool, UNITU to provide feedback. On that platform, course reps have the ability to escalate the feedback to staff members who will respond and take action. UNITU is transparent and enables all students to see any developments that course reps and programme teams have made because of student feedback. Course reps also attend Student Voice Forums that take place two to three times a year. This forum is a chance for the programme team to discuss NSS results and action plans, results of Student Evaluation of Modules surveys and a chance for course reps and students to discuss feedback/ideas/praise from UNITU as well  raising anything additional. SVFs are a chance to have that face-to-face discussion with the programme team about your overall experience.
