With the new year comes a new campaign, one I am really excited for!

So first a little backstory, some students approached me about some work they were doing for a group project at the University. What they wanted from me was to come and watch their presentation, as it related directly to our students here at Glyndwr.

The topic of the project was period poverty. Which in layman’s terms, is people not having enough money to afford adequate period products. I was very impressed by the presentation and immediately did some ground research as well as inviting Aled(the student who had invited me to his group’s presentation) to come and talk about the issue at student council.

Student council all agreed that it was an important issue that we should look into addressing at the union so with student council’s blessing I further explored what I could do!

I contacted both NUS Wales and Edge Hill’s welfare officer (who is running a similar campaign) to find out the best way of running an effective campaign. After being given a ton of great advice we have our campaign planned!

What we want to do is collect products from our students to give back to students when they need it! It’s a very simple campaign designed to raise awareness of the issue and demonstrate the need for better period products support around the university.

The week commencing 29^th of January we will be raising awareness of the period products drive. And the following week starting on the 5^th we will out and about accepting donations!
