Wrexham Glyndwr Students’ Union LGBTQ+ Student Society is made up of LGBTQ+ students who study at Wrexham Glyndwr. The society exists to support you throughout your time at University and to provide you with social activities, as well as to campaign and raise awareness of issues that affect you. But mainly the group is whatever its members want it to be.

The LGBT+ Society enables new and returning students to meet like-minded people within Wrexham Glyndwr University and the local community. Past events have included, annual LGBT+ History Month activities, National Student Pride down in London, Chester Pride, panel debates, film screenings, club nights and a lot more.
The society operates under the name WGSU LGBT+ Society, and are open to any student that self-defines as any aspect of the LGBT+ spectrum.
How is the society run?
WGSU LGBT+ Society has its own President, Secretary and Treasurer. These positions are taken up by students in the society , any decisions that are made are democratic and any student is able to put ideas forward to the society regarding events or input of the direction of the society. The society is also helped by the elected LGBT+ Union Officer to facilitate campaigns and raise issues faced by LGBT students with the SU and University.
How can I get involved?
As a LGBTQ+ student, you are invited to attend any events, whether you are new to the society or have been a member for years you are warmly invited to come forward with ideas for events, or if you have any concerns. We love receiving feedback or ideas for events so please don’t be shy and get in touch.
If you fancy becoming the new LGBT+ Society President, Treasurer or Secretary then get in touch by emailing suactivities@glyndwr.ac.uk! You will recieve full training and ongoing support from SU staff.
President - As President, you will become the face of the society. You will be expected to facilitate society socials, promote the society and its events, aim to increase membership and hold a stall at freshers fair. You will also recieve first aid training.
Treasurer - As treasurer you will be required to handle any monies and ensure that it is brought in to the SU Finance Manager for banking. The SU also has a pot of money that societies can apply for in order to create and attend events and invite guest speakers etc. You will be responsible for filling in the grant request form.
Secretary - You will be required to fill out all the relevant paperwork for the society and ensure that they are maintained. You will also book all the society venues/rooms through the Student Opportunities department at the SU.
